As an educator who is extremely invested in the growth of her students, Maria del Olmo Bañuelos, a teacher and digital learning coordinator at Les Roches International School of Hotel Management in Spain, uses Turnitin as a way to help her students learn from their mistakes. She values the journey of education and strives to emphasize the importance of referencing and citations.
“I do need to explain it to them sometimes that I’m not as interested in the output, but in the process, they go through to get to that outcome. I think they see it when they do start doing the research. Yes, it’s a lot of work, but on the other hand, it’s yours.”
Maria has been very pleased with Turnitin’s easy-to-use interface, which means she has been able to focus more on improving her students’ skills than on operating the technology itself.
“It works very, very well and it’s one of those things that make my life as a digital learning coordinator easier because I don’ t have to worry about Turnitin at all. It just does its thing and that’s it.”
Maria’s institution has seen a decrease in plagiarism since the implementation of Turnitin, and she and her colleagues have utilized the technology to improve their students’ learning process and set them up for successful careers in Spain and beyond.
