Dr. Amir S. Gohardani
Associate Professor, Westcliff University, US

WINNER
Global Innovator Award 2019
North America, Higher Ed

Dr. Amir S. Gohardani lives by the mantra: “Learn as we work.” An Associate Professor and College of Business & Faculty Senate Curriculum Committee Chair at Westcliff University, he values timely, personalized, and actionable feedback, and considers Feedback Studio as the perfect forum for student growth.

“I believe that one of the most significant challenges that we have as educators is that we don’t know how to provide students with constructive feedback, and we often don’t do it in a timely fashion. Turnitin is instrumental in providing us with timestamps for student feedback and even features voice message options that allow for more personalized feedback than a simple write-up.”

In addition to championing the feedback features, Dr. Gohardani recognizes the importance of data. He feels strongly that Turnitin’s massive database is a historical record that helps us as a society to understand “where we innovate or where we copy”:

“I think implementing these tools makes this a much fairer process for students and paves the path for ingenuity in society. This surely has a powerful impact as everybody, regardless of their walks of life, can feel valued and be given the opportunity to contribute with original ideas and advance societal norms”.
