Turnitin announced today that Duke Kunshan University has won the 2020 Asia Pacific Gradescope Grants Program. Turnitin is a leading provider of academic integrity and assessment solutions for schools, universities, and professional organizations. Its products, which include Gradescope, are used around the world to uphold integrity, streamline assessment, and improve learning outcomes for students across all subject areas.

The APAC Gradescope Grants program supports projects related to the use of online assessment platform Gradescope for various assessment types across multiple disciplines. Grant winners demonstrated how they would expand the use of Gradescope to increase student learning, improve grading efficiencies, and ultimately inform assessment and course design, particularly in remote and hybrid learning environments.

Jiaxin Wu, Educational Consultant, and Mengyu Ma, Learning Experience Designer, from the Center for Teaching and Learning at Duke Kunshan University’s winning entry described how they have worked to create a sense of normalcy for faculty and students despite a constantly changing landscape, helping them adjust to hybrid instruction while optimizing student learning outcomes and prioritizing a rich educational experience.

Duke Kunshan University will use Gradescope to digitize assignments and increase grading efficiency in science, economics, programming, language courses, and more. The grant will fund faculty professional development on how to use Gradescope’s assessment design, grading, and feedback features. With Gradescope, it’s easy for faculty to deliver assessments across a variety of modalities—including paper-based, digital, and programming—and formats, like problem sets or projects. Gradescope helps educators evaluate exam quality, inform instruction, and help ensure that students are reaching their highest potential.
