We’re excited to launch the Turnitin Americas Higher Ed Awards: Innovation in Assessment and Integrity to promote best practices in academic integrity and assessment in higher education institutions who use Turnitin solutions.

Let's answer some questions you may have. What are the Innovation in Assessment and Integrity Awards?

Turnitin seeks to recognize up to six educators or groups of educators in the Americas for their work in promoting integrity and evaluation with the use and support of Turnitin technology.

What do the Awards recognize?

The Awards recognize innovative uses of our integrity and assessment technologies, as well as scenarios in which these solutions helped solve educational challenges for both educators and students.

Who can submit a nomination?

All educators or groups of educators who have used a methodology for the promotion of original work, evaluation and formative feedback, with the support of Turnitin tools.

Success stories for higher education institutions should incorporate at least one of the following themes:

  • Institutional approaches and strategies that promote integrity in assessment using Turnitin technologies. This includes methods such as evaluation innovation, the use of feedback tools, and academic integrity programs.
  • Positive student learning outcomes achieved using Turnitin solutions. The results can include building a community in the classroom, developing writing skills, or any other positive results within your institution.
  • Innovative ways Turnitin tools were used to improve students' academic integrity understanding and practice, help to assess originality, and support academic honesty across the institution.
What is the prize?

Up to six projects will be recognized and will receive a donation of $2,000 USD that will go to their preferred charitable foundation or scholarship program. In addition, the winners will share their experience globally, through outlets such as press releases, events, and written communications contributing to sharing best practices among educators in the region.

How do I submit my nomination?

You can nominate yourself, a colleague, or your institution. Just fill out an application. We want you to be able to prepare the information you are going to based on the criteria mentioned in the table below.

What is the selection criteria?

Successful nominations must show the current impact of the implementation of Turnitin tools at the institutional level, and also on student learning and development. In addition, they must show the potential relevance of the work to the education sector in general, whether in the Americas region or beyond.

Important Note: We strongly recommend developing and including evidence of the experience you have had in implementing the innovative practice.

These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessment rubrics
  • Videos
  • Screenshots
  • Publications
  • Internal documentation such as learning outcomes
  • Student testimonials or anecdotal evidence

It is important to be able to see testimonials and/or internal documentation that shows the results and success metrics. Please prepare this data in advance of the nomination and place it in a link format (WeTransfer, Google Drive, etc.).

The nomination window for the Americas Awards is now closed.
