Welcome back to school! "All things new" seems to be a resounding theme during this season: new year, new students, new school and district initiatives, and new tools. We are excited to report that the theme of newness also applies to Turnitin's offerings!
The Curriculum Team (Remember them? You met them a few weeks ago) has been hard at work all summer expanding, rewriting, and improving Revision Assistant prompts, rubrics and feedback. The Signal Check, Spot Check, and Expansion Pack libraries have all grown, and exemplars for Spot Check have doubled since the last school year ended! To get a sense of the new prompts, check out the tables below.

In addition to a wealth of new prompts, we have made significant improvements to the Narrative genre. Based on teacher feedback, we've optimized the rubric, scoring, and comments to provide more actionable feedback to students. For supports on incorporating new prompts into your curriculum, view the Scope and Sequence document, which details "essential questions" associated with each prompt and related concepts.
For more curricular supports, view our exemplars, sample essays that can help teachers gain further insight into how Revision Assistant is assessing student work. Need some inspiration? Here are 25 Ways to Use Exemplar Essays to help with all that back-to-school planning. Recently added exemplars include:
Narrative:
- Grade 6: You've Got a Friend in Me
- Grade 7: A Story About Patience
- Grades 9-10: Question Everything; The Tell-Tale Heart
- Grades 11-12: Mistakes Were Made

- Grades 7-8: Naps: Healthy or Not?; School Sports
