The widespread use of AI writing tools has disrupted traditional university assessment models across the Asia-Pacific region. When applied effectively, AI can be a valuable tool in modernising assessment methods. However, finding a balance between deterring AI-based academic misconduct and leveraging AI to streamline academic processes can be a challenge for universities. It is essential to develop institution-wide policies and frameworks for AI integration to maintain academic integrity and enhance the quality of teaching and learning.

Times Higher Education hosted a webinar on the topic – in partnership with Turnitin – to explore strategies for effective assessment redesign, the challenges and ethical considerations surrounding AI use and the role of AI detection tools in maintaining academic integrity.

Watch the on-demand webinar video to find out more about:

  • How can institutions leverage AI to enhance learning outcomes while maintaining academic integrity?
  • What ethical policies and frameworks must be implemented to ensure the responsible use of AI in existing academic processes?
  • How is AI reshaping traditional evaluation methods, promoting fairness, and enabling more comprehensive insights into student performance?
  • Equipping students with the knowledge and better understanding of AI’s capabilities and limitations to ensure its responsible use.
  • Challenges of integrating AI detection tools in striking a balance between maintaining academic standards and respecting students’ privacy.
  • Collaboration amongst policymakers, universities and industry to develop guidelines that promote innovation and deter over-reliance on AI.
