Why is WriteCheck closing down?

Turnitin’s core service, widely used in institutions globally, provides a more comprehensive approach to help students ensure originality in their work, therefore WriteCheck is no longer needed.



How do I use my credits?

To use any credits you have on your account, log in to your account and submit your document. To submit a document, click the "Browse" button and select the document you want to submit. Then click the "Submit Document" button. If you prefer submitting text directly instead of submitting a file, click the "Copy & Paste Text" link.



How long do I have to use my credits?

You can use your current credits through June 30, 2020.



What happens to credits I don’t use?

Since the WriteCheck service will shut down, unused credits on your account will no longer be valid after June 30, 2020.



How do I find out if I have credits to use?

When you log in to your account the number of credits remaining appears on the top left.



How does this affect my Smarthinking credits?

Your Smarthinking credits will also be valid for use until June 30, 2020.

To use any Smarthinking credits you have on your account, log in to your account and submit your document. To submit a document and receive Smarthinking Tutoring feedback, select “Originality Report and Tutoring Feedback” from the Submission Type options. If necessary, select the critique type and then fill out the assignment description or the instructors for the tutor. Click the "Browse" button and select the document you want to submit. Then click the "Submit Document" button.



How can I check my work for potential plagiarism when WriteCheck is unavailable?

Many universities offer plagiarism detection services from Turnitin. Ask your university whether they are using Turnitin and if you are eligible.
