The American Association of School Librarians affirms librarians as collaborators, change agents, and leaders who prepare students to be effective users of ideas and information. While There has been ample discussion about how the profession has changed across the decades, it remains an open question where school libraries and librarians are headed. At the start of the second decade of the 21st century and in the wake of a school year where remote instruction defined many students’ school experiences, we’ll convene a panel of librarians to explore what the future holds for a role that is central to cultivating lifelong learners and original thinkers.
