After winning the 2015 Turnitin MVP All-Star Award: Higher Education for our initiative, Julie and I wanted to create an online video that would highlight the benefits of Turnitin and that was easily accessible to faculty and students. Working with Bernice Watson and Sarah Ramirez, our media specialists, and with the support of our Office of Academic Affairs, we scheduled a few mornings and afternoons of filming across campus. We interviewed faculty, students, and instructional deans in offices, lecture halls, classrooms, the library, and the Student Success Center. We worked with Ms. Watson to edit the footage to a final video that was under four minutes. Our goal was to create a video that was engaging and informative. By uploading the video to the Cerritos College YouTube channel (see below) and linking the video to our Center for Teaching Excellence homepage under the title "Why Turnitin," faculty can now view the video when signing up for a Turnitin account. The video can also be shown during instructional meetings and orientations.
While Julie and I still conduct personalized Turnitin tutorials, the video provides an excellent introduction to our colleagues. The video, along with our initiative, helped to consolidate campus support for our subscription to Turnitin
