Help Center: Switching Between Viewing Modes in Originality Reports
There are three basic modes available for viewing Originality Reports: show highest matches together (cumulative mode), show matches one at a time (single source mode) and quickview report (classic mode). Each of these modes can be accessed through the "mode" pull down menu at the top of the Originality Report.
The cumulative mode displays the student's paper on the left side of the screen and lists the sources which combine to form the greatest overall match on the right side of the screen. Each of the matches on the right contains a number in the upper left corner as well as colored text. The source's number and text color correspond to the number and color of the highlighted text in the paper on the left side of the screen which match that source. Clicking on the number of a source will cause the student paper to scroll to the matching text.
How to switch to cumulative mode as an instructor
1. Click on the class name
2. Click on the "View" link to the right of the assignment name
3. Click on the Originality Report you would like to view
4. Select "show highest matches together" from the mode pull down menu
The single source mode of the Originality Report displays the student's paper on the left side of the screen and a list of every source found for the paper on the right side of the screen. Included in the list of sources will be any sources which were excluded from the cumulative mode, such as papers submitted to the class by the same author, sources the instructor chose to exclude and sources which were overlapped by other sources. The radio buttons to the left of the source can be used to select which source you would like to view matching text for. The text matching the selected source will then appear as highlighted text in the student's paper on the left side of the screen.
How to switch to single source mode as an instructor
1. Click on the class name
2. Click on the "View" link to the right of the assignment name

4. Select "show matches one at a time" from the mode pull down menu
The classic mode of an Originality Report displays the list of sources which combine to form the greatest overall match above the text of the student's paper. The text of each source link is displayed in a different color; the text within the student's paper which matches the source will also be displayed in that color.
How to switch to classic mode as an instructor

From any viewing mode it is possible to access a side-by-side comparison of the text from the student's paper and the text of the source within our database. The side by side comparison mode will display the student's paper on the left side to the screen and the source text on the right side of the screen. Clicking on the block of highlighted text within the student's paper will cause the source text on the right to automatically scroll to the text that matches the highlighted text that was clicked.
