Help Center: Collapsing a Master Class into a Standard Class
Instructors will sometimes have master classes (classes with sections) in their Turnitin account that they would prefer to have set as standard classes. As long as the master class has only one section, the instructor can collapse the master class to a standard class through the update tool for the master class.
Collapsing a master class
1. Click on the edit icon to the right of the master class
2. Click on the "collapse to standard class" button near the bottom of the update window
Additional Information
- Master classes can only be collapsed if there is one and only one section for the master class. Master classes with multiple sections cannot be collapsed. Master classes for which the section has been deleted cannot be collapsed. If the instructor deletes the section, the Turnitin help desk must be contacted to reinstate the section before the master class can be collapsed.
- Once a master class is collapsed, the standard class will take on the class id and enrollment password of the section. All students enrolled in and all papers submitted to the section will be accessible through the standard class.
