Glimpsing the Future in the Present: Surveying Trendlines in Education and Technology Predicting the future of anything is extraordinarily difficult, but there are ways to better prepare ourselves for transformations in education. One is to examine trends in the present and recent past, in order to identify drivers of change to come. This presentation surveys trendlines in four general categories: education and its contexts; technology; the intersection of technology and education; the crisis of higher education. It draws on an ongoing, Web-based research initiative that's been running for two years.
