Turnitin has recently announced that it is working in partnership with Hancom of South Korea, creators of the Hancom Office suite of software, to support the country’s most widely used word processing file type (the .hwp format) in Turnitin the world’s leading plagiarism detection service. Turnitin started accepting .hwp files earlier this year.

The support of .hwp means that Turnitin’s customers will have the added advantage of using Hancom’s file type and range of Hancom products. As a result, any work using Hanword, will be able to use Turnitin’s full range of originality and plagiarism detection services.

Hancom’s welcome into the Turnitin fold is a major step forward for both companies, since they will be able to serve a wider customer base as a result. Turnitin in particular sees the move as improving an already established and well-respected service, to fit in more closely with the growing and changing needs of its Korean customers in this challenging digital age.
