As one of the first members of staff at her institution to use Turnitin, Jelena’s primary objective is to help students “to be more creative and original thinkers” whilst also trying to break the culture of copying often learned from high school to induct students into a new culture of academic integrity.
After using Turnitin in the final year of her undergraduate studies at the same, institution Natasha decided she wanted to also make use of the software in her own teaching, but with one key difference; she felt that it should be introduced to students earlier in their academic career.
Comments from external moderators for modules at the Middle East College indicated that there was a lack of consistency in feedback provided to students on the same module delivered through multiple sessions and that the feedback being offered was not sufficiently constructive.
